more about ibra

IBRA ministers through internet, satellite television, video, cassettes, radio, education and follow-up. Every day several hundred hours of Christian programming are broadcast to all parts of the world from 200 different radio transmitters. IBRA's policy is to purchase airtime from established radio stations rather than to build and maintain its own transmitters. Through IBRA's ministry, about half of the world's population has opportunity to hear programs about Jesus Christ. And yet, several hundred million people are still waiting to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

IBRA's vision is to reach all the unreached peoples of the world whose only hope of hearing the Gospel is through mass media. Within the framework of "World by Radio", IBRA cooperates with several other major world-wide Christian radio organizations so that all nations, peoples and tribes will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel in a language they can understand.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
- Matt 28:19-20 (NIV)

IBRA's history
In 1949, Swedish pastor Lewi Pethrus, leader of the Swedish Pentecostal Movement, presented his vision for a Christian radio ministry. At that time, the Swedish government maintained a monopoly over all radio broadcasting in the country, and there were no opportunities for local churches to air their own programming. But on the 29th of July 1955, IBRA aired its first broadcasts from Tangier in North Africa. The dream of an independent Christian radio station had finally become a reality.

IBRA grows
IBRA quickly became a popular radio station, both among the Swedish population as well as internationally. Within two years, IBRA was broadcasting in 15 other languages besides the Swedish programs. Over the years, the radio ministry has grown tremendously, and today IBRA ministers in over a hundred countries in more than 100 different languages. More than half of the world's population has the ability to listen and watch IBRA's broadcasts.

Great needs
A major portion of IBRA's operating funds comes from gifts from congregations and individuals, many of whom are young people. By helping to support IBRA, you can take part in the great things that are happening today throughout the world through the media outreach. With your support IBRA will be able to develop new projects and proclaim the Gospel to the unreached peoples of the world. The needs are enormous.

Organization
IBRA (International Broadcasting Association) is a Christian media mission organization associated with the Pentecostal churches of Scandinavia. More than 750 churches throughout Scandinavia stand behind IBRA's international ministry. Churches in Finland, Norway, Denmark, and the United States cooperate in various ministry projects.
